Dear Right Moves,

EVERYONE with an iPhone is photographer.  I mean, what’s the point?  Has the time passed for this to be a career?

Texting in Tarrytown, New York

The power of images has never been more relevant than it is today. Anyone can make a picture and share what he sees with someone else, but a professional photographer has a vision, a way of seeing, that he wants to share, and that goes far beyond the sharing of place or thing.

It IS more difficult to have a sustained career as a photographer because the business is not just about photography. Today’s photographer has to understand cultural trends, marketing and business more now than 20 years ago. To be a photographer, is not only relevant, it is culturally imperative. - See more at: http://www.pdnonline.com/emergingphotographer/Right-Moves-iPhone–9846.shtml#sthash.ScrHOfvM.dpuf
